| [11.03.2009] VeEX announces powerful SLA validation test feature. |
|
Santa Clara, Calif., Nov. 3, 2009 -- VeEX announces a powerful Service Level Agreement (SLA) validation test feature for its VePAL V300 series Ethernet products. The "RFC2544 Advanced SLA Mode" feature combines the powerful multiservice throughput test capabilities found on these products with the RFC2544 industry test suite for SLA verification. Using this new test function, service providers are able to verify SLAs whilst end-to-end QoS is assessed properly. By configuring one primary test stream and up to seven background streams each with independent frame size, bandwidth, and more importantly QoS levels, simulating different service applications is now realized. The Advanced RFC2544 SLA mode provides detailed visibility of the test parameters for each of the traffic streams being measured, providing an efficient in-depth qualification in a fast and automated way. "The Advanced RFC2544 SLA feature was inspired and driven by one of Europe's largest Tier 1 operators" according to Ricardo Torres, VeEX's Director of Product Marketing for Ethernet Products. He continued by saying, "The customer needed an advanced 10Mbit to 1Gigabit Ethernet test instrument that was capable of performing SLA measurements while approximating a real traffic environment. Although many competitive instruments offer the standard measurement routine, RFC2544 was never really developed for network operators deploying service in operational type traffic conditions, so the regular feature had known limitations. After months of custom software development and stringent field trials, the customer selected the MX300 because it was able to support independent test applications on two individual test ports which incorporated the RFC2544 Advanced SLA mode". The test mode is also available on the TX300, the industry's smallest full-featured PDH/SDH/OTN/Ethernet/Fibre Channel network analyzer. Versatile hardware and software options optimize the configuration for transport applications at rates ranging from DS1/E1 to OC-192/STM-64 and/or Metro Ethernet testing including 10GE, 1GE and 10/100/1000Base-T rates. SAN and OTN testing applications such as Fiber Channel and OTU-1/2 respectively can be added via a simple software code. The highly portable design makes the TX300 suitable for the field installation and maintenance environment, but Lab and NEM customers benefit from the advanced feature set normally found in bigger, bulkier test sets. As operators and service providers strive to reduce operating costs, replacing a number of products with a single multiservice instrument such as the V300 series has helped them reach these objectives, while continuing to deliver new services. Already shipping to customers in North America, Europe, Asia, and Latin America since January 2009, the MX300 and TX300 multi-service instruments will be on display at the Ethernet Expo November 3rd and 4th at the Hilton Hotel New York, booth #214, New York City. |
