VeEX® Adds DWDM OTDR Testing Capabilities to its RXT Platform
VeEX Inc., a global leader in Telecom, CATV, Fiber and Broadband Access, today added a DWDM OTDR module to its RXT, the company’s flagship modular multi-service platform.
The RXT-4111 OTDR module features a highly stable, tunable laser for verifying ROADM channel routing in DWDM networks. The tunable laser covers all wavelengths from 1563.86 to 1528.77 (C-band) based on a 50 GHz channel spacing according to the ITU-T wavelength grid. Optional features include a power meter, a light source and a visual fault locator.
“Ensuring correct channel routing in a DWDM network employing ROADM network elements has been a specific challenge for many service providers,” said Mike Venter, Vice President of Optical Product Marketing at VeEX. “Technicians and Engineers need to check service continuity at very precise wavelengths, and OTDR technology has not been available to do this up until now. The RXT DWDM OTDR features a state-of-the-tunable laser that can be easily programmed to a desired wavelength verifying agile ROADM configuration,” he added.
The RXT OTDR modules will be on display at the ECOC Fiber Exhibition in Valencia, Spain from September 28-30, 2015 and the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo® in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA from October 14-16, 2015.
